Logline

A meticulous piano tuner with hyperacusis — an extreme sensitivity to sound — relies on his acute hearing to achieve perfect precision. When he discovers that the same heightened perception allows him to crack safes, his ordered world begins to fracture. As his abilities pull him into a dangerous double life, control gives way to compulsion, and listening itself becomes both his greatest asset and his undoing.

The Unseen Narrative

The film is engineered around a single nervous system. We are building a mix in which the audience hears the world as the tuner hears it — a hyperacusic field in which every refrigerator, every floorboard, every tumbler in a lock arrives at the ear with the same unnegotiable clarity as a struck string. The instrument and the safe are the same object.

Selected Frames
#001
The Workroom

Felt, wire, tuning fork. A room kept at the threshold of silence.

#002
The Keyboard

Hammer on string at 192kHz. Precision as ritual.

#003
The Safe

Brass wheel pack. Fence lifting one click at a time.

#004
The Street Outside

A city mixed too loud, arriving through a body that cannot dampen it.

Stems
Acoustic Breakdown

The film is built from these components. Each stem below is a narrative thread — the work is in how they are woven, and where they are withheld.

A bespoke perceptual model for the protagonist — recruitment curves, reduced loudness tolerance, narrowed dynamic headroom — applied to the entire mix when the film is inside his point of listening. Ordinary rooms become architectural events; ordinary voices arrive at the threshold of pain.

Elements
  • Recruitment-curve EQ
  • Reduced tolerance mix
